Baldwin County Georgia College Early College Freshman Braylen Howell has been selected by State Superintendent Richard Woods to serve on the superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SAC).

"I look forward to being a strong voice for the students in my district so their ideas will be heard,” said Howell. “I want to be a part of policy making decisions that affect the students of Georgia, especially those in my district."

“Braylen has been a standout student in our district for many years now and we are very proud of him being selected for this council,” said Superintendent Dr. Noris Price. “We are looking forward to having him represent our students and our district”

“It is so important to me to hear directly from students about how decisions made at the state level are playing out in the classroom,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. “Meeting with my StudentAdvisory Council allows me to hear feedback firsthand from those most affected by educational policies.”

Members were selected from a pool of more than 1,000 applicants who applied to serve on the council. Braylen is one of 70 high school students and one of 10 freshmen on the SAC. Student were chosen based on the strength of their essay answers, which focused on their ideas for public education as well as their community service experience. The students selected attend public schools all over the state, in every RESA district in Georgia.
