Allied Arts Brings Professional Cartoonist to Guest Teach During Summer Adventure

Many thanks to Allied Arts for sponsoring a special guest professional cartoonist, Tim Oliphant (Mr. Ollie) who has been doing professional work since 1983. He taught for 3 days in Joel Respess's Art classroom as part of the Fine Arts Summer journeys, funded by a grant through Allied Arts.

Based in Lewisburg, Tennessee, his cartoons and illustrations have been featured in The Saturday Evening Post, Woman's World, Boy's Life, The American Legion Magazine, Ebony, Mature Years, Highlights for Children, and many more. He has received the Outstanding Artist in Residence from the Tennessee Arts Commission, and now tours the southeast doing work for school districts all over.

On the morning of June 26th, he did a formal lesson where students created their own versions of an Ollie original, "Smiling Duck".
