Ms. Burgess has worked for the district for more than 11 years and currently works as our Speech/Language Pathologist. Ms. Burgess was nominated by her colleague, Anna Dunn. Ms. Dunn states: “Mrs. Joyce Burgess is the best! For around twenty years Mrs. Burgess has served many speech students in our Baldwin County school community. She is definitely a dedicated and caring employee. Mrs. Burgess is a pleasure to work with and always has a smile on her face. Midway Hills Academy is proud to have her serving its speech students. Her experience, knowledge of speech, and love for children are a winning combination. Mrs. Burgess diligently and faithfully works with students in groups and one on one. She works hard to help in any way that she can. Mrs. Burgess currently serves MHA and OHMS. We are certainly thankful to have her on our team. Thanks, Mrs. Burgess for all that you do. You are appreciated.” Mrs. Burgess, thank you for being a shining example of excellence!

He was nominated by his colleague, Katrina Shy. Ms. Shy had this to say: “Mr. Evans is a very humble guy. He has a heart for the kids. He has a great down-to-earth personality. He goes over and beyond for the students. He knows exactly what to do when handling difficult students and situations. You will never know when he’s frustrated or upset. Mr. Evans was built for the position of behavior specialist. You have a problem, one call that’s all, Coach Evans to the rescue!” Mr. Evans, thank you for modeling excellence!

This is Ms. Wiley’s third year working for the Baldwin County School District. Ms. Wiley currently works as a Paraprofessional at Lakeview Academy. She was nominated by her colleague, Linda Colwell. She always wears a smile and never misses an opportunity to share some form of positive praise with every adult and child she encounters. Her curriculum always engages, differentiates, and is inclusive to all students. She plans lessons, adding support to materials when they are needed so all her students will enjoy the activities. As a special educator, I recognize the true gift Ms. Wiley has at meeting children where they are and then genuinely seeing the vision they have for a wonderful future. The world is much richer with Ms. Wiley in it, and I know our students at Lakeview Primary School are blessed to have her as a teacher. I am blessed to have her as a colleague.” Ms. Wiley, thank you for being a model of excellence!
