Oak Hill Wins Championship!

October 22, 2019

In only their second year in the CSRA League, Oak Hill Football Team hands league favorite Thomson its first loss of the season 32-30 in the league championship, held at the Brickyard Stadium in Thomson on Oct.16, 2019.

Oak Hill jumped out to an early lead 8-0 in the 1st quarter, and by half time the score was 8-8. In the third quarter, both teams were able to score on each other with long runs. Late in the fourth quarter, Thomson went up 32-24 on the Braves with 55 seconds remaining in the game. Not willing to take a loss, Oak Hill kept grinding and with 8 seconds left in regulations, the Braves called time out and created a play. That play would break the hearts of Thomson Bulldogs, as the quarterback, Armontae Palmer dropped back and dumped off a pass to Micah Welch. Welch sprinted 35 yards and scored to tie the game. As the braves went for the two point conversion, Welch dived in for the two points and the Oak Hill Braves are now league Champions. The braves also had strong performances from Javez Foreman who scored a touchdown. Oak Hill finished their season with a 7-1 record.
