Media Center upgrade

Lakeview Academy's Media Center started the 2018-2019 school year being literally ripped apart down to its bare concrete floors. All of the library books were packed up in boxes and were temporarily stored in neat rows outside the Media Center along the hallways. As the first day of school approached, the Media Center remained devoid of a usable floor. Media Center checkouts were limited to classroom sets only and were conducted from the LVA Book Room. Students were greeted with a purple wall covering all the windows of the Media Center (except one) while workers finished laying down carpeting. It was with great rejoicing when on the third week of school, students were finally allowed to enter and library orientations were started. Due to a limited shelving space, only fiction books and a small sampling of non-fiction books were available for checkout. Because majority of the school's catalog was still packed up in boxes, the Media Center staff suspended a widely-popular circulation feature: the abillity to place holds on books. LVA students and staff patiently waited for our new library furniture to arrive. All of us were thrilled when on the third week of March, our new furniture and shelves were delivered. Everyone at LVA agrees that our new Media Center is truly EPIC! We have new reading spaces, maker spaces, flexible and soft seating and best of all, new BOOKS! LVA is proud to welcome the public to visit our Media Center!
