As the parent or guardian of a student currently enrolled in the Baldwin County School District, we are writing to notify you that under House Bill 251, the law that allows parents of K-12 public school students in Georgia the opportunity to enroll their child in designated schools within their local school district in which they now reside, you have the option to request to attend a school outside of your assigned attendance zone. You are eligible to submit a request to have your child transferred to another public school within the Baldwin County School District for the 2023-2024 school year as long as the school has determined that there is available classroom space at the school after all assigned students have been enrolled.

PLEASE NOTE:

➢ Students who received a transfer application approval for this current 2022-2023 school year still must submit a new HB 251 online electronic transfer request application (found on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal or the BCSD Website) in order to be considered for a transfer for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. No paper applications will be accepted.

➢ BCSD employees who complete a new online transfer application for the 2023-2024 school year will automatically be granted a student transfer for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

➢ HB 251 online electronic transfer requests are due by Monday, May 1, 2023.

➢ Please keep in mind that if you choose to transfer your child to another school in the district, both behavior and attendance are determining factors in the request approval consideration. The law also requires you to assume all costs and responsibilities related to the transportation of your child to and from school as long as your child remains at that school.

As stated above, no paper applications will be accepted. All online forms must be submitted electronically by Monday, May 1st, 2023 to renew and hold roster spots. If a family does not confirm, declines, or forfeits their spot after enrollment, the next requesting family on the waiting list will be offered admission. Families who forfeit their spot will be added to the bottom of the current waiting list. The Baldwin County School District will maintain a waiting list for each school once they reach capacity. Again, the required online/electronic “Transfer Request Form” due May 1st, 2023 must be submitted and can be found on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal or the BCSD Website.
