Baldwin County School District Celebrates Dr. Noris Price at Retirement Reception Honoring 40 Years of Transformational Leadership

On Friday, May 30, 2025, the Baldwin County School District proudly honored Dr. Noris Price, the district’s longtime superintendent, with a heartfelt retirement reception for her 11 years as BCSD superintendent and commemorating her extraordinary 40-year career in public education.
A Night of Celebration for a Trailblazing Superintendent

The intimate evening gathering brought together a distinguished group of guests from across Georgia—each eager to celebrate the impact of a leader who has shaped the future of education not just in Baldwin County, but across the state.
Attendees included state and local leaders such as the Honorable Floyd Griffin, Milledgeville Mayor Mary Parham-Copelan, Georgia College & State University President Cathy Cox, Commissioner Emily Davis, Milledgeville City Council Shonya Mapp, National PTA President Otha Thornton, and even NFL great Earnest Byner. Family members, Superintendents and educators from across Georgia, Partners In Education, and members of the Baldwin County community also joined in the celebration.
Honoring a Legacy of Excellence in Georgia
Throughout the evening, speaker after speaker praised Superintendent Dr. Noris Price for her lifelong commitment to equity, student success, and innovation. From her early days as a classroom teacher to her pioneering leadership as one of Georgia’s most respected educational figures, Dr. Price has consistently put students first, especially those from historically underserved communities.
Her accolades include being named the 2022 Georgia Superintendent of the Year and a finalist for National Superintendent of the Year—a testament to the reach and influence of her work.
A Decade of Growth and Achievement in Baldwin County
Appointed as Superintendent of the Baldwin County School District in 2014, Dr. Price has led a transformation that will be felt for generations. Under her leadership:

The district’s graduation rate soared from 66% to 85%
Student performance and engagement improved
Wraparound support services for students were expanded to remove nonacademic barriers to learning
Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) offerings grew substantially
The Montessori Academy and the International Baccalaureate were implemented
Over $15 million in grant funds were obtained
Fine arts programs were expanded
Community partnerships flourished
Districtwide Accreditation was achieved
Development of a comprehensive response plan to the COVID-19 pandemic
Baldwin County was recognized nationally for its educational achievements
The Baldwin County Board of Education was named Governance Team of the Year by the Georgia School Boards Association
Three successful E-SPLOST Elections
Her vision has redefined what’s possible for public education in rural Georgia.
Special Presentations and Lasting Recognition

In a moving tribute, the Honorable Floyd Griffin presented Dr. Price with a formal resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives, recognizing her unparalleled service. The Baldwin County Board of Education also presented her with a commemorative award, highlighting her lasting contributions and unwavering dedication to the district’s success.
In addition, the Dr. Noris Price Scholarship has been established through the Baldwin Charter System Foundation to provide financial support to first-generation college students.
