The Baldwin County School District has once again been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by The NAMM Foundation—marking ten consecutive years of national recognition. This year’s award is especially meaningful as it coincides with Superintendent Dr. Noris Price’s final year at the helm of the district, capping off an era of excellence in arts education and student achievement. Baldwin is one of only 14 districts in the state to have earned such a distinction this year.

"Music education enriches the lives of our students and strengthens our school culture," said Dr. Price. "Receiving this national designation affirms the hard work of our music educators and the continued investment our Baldwin Board of Education makes in the arts."
What Is the Best Communities for Music Education Award?

Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) program recognizes school districts across the country that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students. Over 1,000 districts and individual schools are selected each year based on their commitment to building strong, inclusive, and high-quality music programs.
Baldwin County joins this elite group once again, reflecting its long-standing belief that music and the arts are essential parts of a well-rounded education.
How Baldwin County Earned the Recognition
To qualify for the designation, the Baldwin County School District completed a rigorous evaluation process measuring:

Music funding and access
Graduation requirements
Student participation in music courses
Instructional time and scheduling
Music facilities and equipment
Community support and music-making opportunities
Submissions are carefully reviewed by the arts research firm WolfBrown and verified by district leadership.
Why Music Education Matters
This recognition highlights not only district-wide excellence in music education, but also the deeply personal impact music has on Baldwin’s students. Band rooms, chorus halls, and orchestras across the district serve as spaces where students learn collaboration, confidence, and creativity.
Celebrating a Legacy—and Looking Ahead
This 10-year streak of excellence in music education is a proud achievement for Baldwin County School District and a fitting milestone in Dr. Noris Price’s final year as superintendent. Her leadership has helped ensure that music remains a core part of the student experience—equipping young people with tools for both academic success and lifelong expression.
