Baldwin High School English Department and Media Center Host a community Literacy Night

The BHS English Department and Media Center hosted a community literacy night on Jan. 23. The event featured a table-talk with local authors Jennifer Medlin Bridgeman, Amanda Cooper, Sandra Worsham, Jemeria Cummings, Barry Reese, and Latisha Roberts, who represented her son JeMazin Roberts. Following the table-talk, students competed in a poetry slam with Damonte Holsey and Alexander Bakken tying for first place to each receive a Samsung tablet. Other giveaways included gift cards, books, puzzles, and computer chargers.  The computer chargers were donated by Communities in School. Refreshments were provided by Kona Ice, Blackbird Coffee, Food Corps, and the BHS culinary lab, and FCCLA and Teens in the Drivers Seat were on location doing face painting.
