On Thursday, April 24, 2025, Baldwin High School proudly hosted its largest-ever Golden Apple Awards ceremony—a breakfast and award ceremony filled with gratitude, reflection, and celebration. Led by Principal Markeeta Clayton, the event honored the school’s graduating honors students who, in turn, present their dedicated educators with a Golden Apple trophy for the mentorship they have given them.
The Legacy of the Golden Apple Awards
The Baldwin High School Golden Apple Awards began in 2022, founded by the late Academic Coach Shelton Brown in partnership with then-Principal Jason Flanders. Originally a small gathering to honor impactful educators, the event has since evolved into one of the most cherished traditions within the Baldwin County School District.
Now in its fourth year, the ceremony has grown in size and scope, embracing the entire senior honors cohort and becoming a defining example of Baldwin High School Excellence.

Celebrating Educator Impact
At the heart of the Golden Apple Awards is a powerful tradition: each graduating honors student selects a teacher who has profoundly influenced their life. During the ceremony, students present their chosen educators with a golden apple trophy, accompanied by personal reflections that highlight the lasting impact of their mentorship.
A Baldwin County Tradition of Excellence
This year’s event was the largest Golden Apple Ceremony yet, reflecting the growth and significance of this meaningful tradition. As part of the ongoing efforts to spotlight Baldwin High School Excellence, the Golden Apple Awards shine a light on the strong relationships between students and teachers that define the school’s culture.
The Baldwin County School District remains committed to celebrating educators and fostering academic growth, and events like this exemplify that mission in action.
