Congratulations to Dr. Kristina Dandy, one of our parents and a dedicated professor of psychology at Georgia College & State University, who has been chosen to represent our district on the prestigious 2023-2025 State School Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council (PAC). This honor is not only a testament to Dr. Dandy's commitment to education but also a reflection of the outstanding individuals who make up our Baldwin family. "My daughter has gone through the school system here," said Dandy, "starting with the Montessori at ELC (Early Learning Center) and now at Lakeview Primary. We feel supported here by both the Georgia College community and the Baldwin community."
The State School Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council is a select group comprising parents from across the state of Georgia, with only 30 parents earning a spot on this council each year. These dedicated individuals provide valuable insights and recommendations regarding new policies, projects, and educational materials that directly impact students and their families. "I think that the Baldwin County School District has a lot to offer," said Dandy, "I'm hoping that I have some unique perspective, not just as a parent of a child who's also going through Montessori, which is a unique program, but I'm also hoping that my background as a scientist and as a professor will offer some innovative strategies to support parents across the state."
One of the key objectives of the Advisory Council is to enhance parent and family engagement, ensuring that it plays a pivotal role in promoting student academic success. Dr. Dandy's presence on this council will undoubtedly bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, benefiting not only our local community but also families across the state.
Parents who serve on the PAC are nominated by their local school districts at the start of each school year. To be selected is a testament to their dedication and passion for the betterment of the educational system. In Dr. Dandy, we have a representative who embodies these qualities and more.
As we embark on the 2023-2025 term, we are confident that Dr. Dandy's insights and contributions will play a vital role in shaping the educational landscape for our students and families. Her dedication to education, both as a parent and a professor, is truly commendable, and we are proud to have her as a part of the Baldwin County School District family.
