Congratulations to the following employees who are the January 2022 recipients
of the Pursuit of Excellence Award for the Baldwin County School District.
Katherine Giddens has worked for the district for more than 15 years and currently works as a 5th-grade teacher at Lakeview Academy. Ms. Giddens was nominated by her colleague, Kelly Smith. Ms. Smith had the following to say about Katherine Giddens, “Mrs. Giddens is fun, exciting, and enthusiastic! You can tell she loves her students and that she is very passionate about their learning and success. Mrs. Giddens is a friend to all of the staff at Lakeview Academy. Her excitement and enthusiasm are contagious and she goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcome here. She is a bright ray of sunshine that warms and cheers up everyone around her! Ms. Giddens, thank you for being a shining example of excellence!
Deaje Brown is in her second year of working for the Baldwin County School District. Mrs. Brown currently works as a 5th-grade teacher at Lakeview Academy. Mrs. Brown was nominated by her colleague, Caroline Lacksen. Ms. Lacksen had the following to say about Mrs. Brown, “Deaje Brown has gone out of her way as a second-year teacher to accommodate and assist our new teachers in fifth grade. She makes herself available throughout the day to provide support in lesson planning and behavior management, as well as answer the everyday questions regarding school/district policies and protocol.

Hannah Rauscher is in her third year of working for the Baldwin County School District. Mrs. Rauscher currently works as a Special Education Teacher at Lakeview Academy. She was nominated by her mentee, Stephanie Holland. Ms. Holland had the following to say about Mrs. Rauscher, “Mrs. Rauscher has been encouraging and supportive to me as I have navigated my first year at Lakeview Academy. I have observed her teaching and watched as she has treated her children with fairness and respect. Mrs. Rauscher teaches with confidence, compassion, and enthusiasm. She has encouraged a relationship with them that is a model that I hope to follow. Mrs. Rauscher is quick to encourage me and to let me know that the teachers in my hall are all there to help me and to lift me up as I began this journey in the world of elementary education. Mrs. Rauscher is your Pursuit of Excellence Winner because she not only pursues the path of excellence but also cultivates that excellence in those who work with her. Mrs. Rauscher, thank you for being a model of excellence!
Brittany Nichols has worked for the Baldwin County School District for over 6 years. She currently works as an Instructional Specialist Teacher at Lakeview Primary. Ms. Nichols was nominated by her Principal, Tracy Clark. Mrs. Clark at the following to say about Ms. Nichols, “Mrs. Nichols is our STEAM teacher at Lakeview Primary School. She has definitely gone above and beyond this school year to help our teachers and students. She worked endlessly to take any extra time she had to get school supplies and teacher supplies out to those who needed them. This was a task she took on and continues to do until everyone has what they need. Mrs. Nichols is also the chair of our Lakeview Primary School Spirit Committee which organizes monthly events and activities for our students/teachers to participate in such as Dot Day, International Music Day, Kindness Day, Monthly STEAM days to name a few. Under her leadership, her team provides everything teachers need for students down to lessons and materials. Mrs. Nichols wants to make sure that there are no barriers to students/teachers being able to participate in these monthly activities. Ms. Nichols, thank you for being the epitome of excellence!
