This week's BOE Employee of the Week recognition profile features Christopher Dominy. Mr. Dominy is the Payroll Time & Attendance District Finance Secretary. He has worked for the Baldwin County School District for nearly 19 years.
Family and Foster Care are two subject matters that are close to Mr. Dominy's heart. He and his wife Tori Dominy, our school district's Student Information Systems Coordinator, have a total of 11 kids!
"My children are my heart! Tori and I have 11 kids: Each of us have 2 that are biological, 2 are adopted, 3 we just received guardianship over from the Foster Care System and 2 foster kids. We have 3 grandchildren and 1 on the way. Our children range from age 23 to 4 and we have a grandchild who is the same age as our daughter. The foster kids are 17 months and 8 months!"
When asked what he likes to do for a hobby outside of work Mr. Dominy playfully joked that with 11 kids, it's hard to find time for a hobby. Being a father is his number one fun thing to do.
"I have too many kids for a hobby! My hobbies are putting together what arrives from Amazon daily and loving our children and grandchildren."
However, he does enjoy watching "old strange classic movies." Some of his favorites are Christine, The Wraith and more recent Interstellar.
Mr. Dominy is a Baldwin native. After graduating from Georgia Military College Prep School, he attended Georgia Southern. He joined the workforce in 1993 before coming to the Board of Education as the first Warehouse Manager in 2002. Years later an opportunity came up for him in the Finance Department, which he started working in during the year 2016.
He has enjoyed working in the Finance Department ever since his first day.
"I enjoy helping others in the capacity that I am in here at the Board of Education as the Payroll Time and Attendance Clerk. I am Frontline (Aesop) Certified in Absence Management. I enjoy working with our Finance Team family. There is never a dull moment working at the BOE."
Thank you Mr. Dominy for bringing your expertise and sense of humor to your role at the BOE. You are greatly appreciated.
