Our BOE Employee of the Week is Mr. Matt Adams, Deputy Superintendent.
Mr. Adams joined the Baldwin County School District team in May of 2020. In his role as Deputy Superintendent, he oversees all aspects of school operations within the school district. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his job. He has served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, CTAE Director, and district level administrator in various school systems and brings over 25 years of educational experience.
Mr. Adams is originally from Pike County, where he served as an elementary school principal. He has also worked as a middle and high school principal in Bibb and Lamar County Schools.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Religion from Emmanuel College and attended Mercer University and Columbus State University to earn his middle grades teaching certification. He later earned a Master of Education and Specialist in Education in the field of Educational Leadership from Columbus State University.
Mr. Adams' has a wide range of hobbies. Some of his favorite things to do outside of work include spending time with his family, serving his church community, hiking, golfing, and sports in general.
Family is very important to Mr. Adams and he considers his family to be a beautiful blessing.
"While my wife and I are now experiencing the empty nest syndrome, we're blessed to have three talented adult children, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law and the most beautiful granddaughter in the world," he said.
