Building Our Future Together: Baldwin County School District Announces New Five-Year Strategic Plan

The Baldwin County School District is proud to share a new five-year strategic plan, a clear roadmap for strengthening our schools, supporting our people and preparing every student for a successful future.

The plan reflects our story and our promise: to build an exceptional educational ecosystem where families are active partners, learning environments are safe and supportive, staff members are empowered and every student has the opportunity to achieve successful outcomes.

Our work over the next five years will center on five strategic priorities:

1) Successful Student Outcomes

Student learning remains at the heart of everything we do. The district will strengthen common assessments, weekly teacher collaboration as well as the use of student performance data to provide responsive instruction.

Students will also experience more opportunities to apply their learning through practical writing, analytical thinking and real-world problem-solving, including interpreting charts, graphs and trends across subject areas all to enhance student literacy.

2) Climate and Culture

Students and employees do their best work in environments where they feel safe, supported and valued.

The district will expand proactive behavioral instruction through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, strengthen progressive discipline practices and provide explicit instruction in school safety, self-regulation and behavioral expectations.

The plan also includes the development of a centralized, standardized counseling and mental health department by Fall 2027, along with expanded student participation in clubs, extracurricular activities and other opportunities to build a stronger sense of belonging.

3) Family and Community Engagement

Families are essential partners in student success, and the new strategic plan establishes clearer and more consistent ways for families to connect with our schools.

Priorities include creating a unified district-wide calendar, offering flexible in-person and live-streamed meeting options, implementing a 48-hour staff response expectation and launching a district Parent Advisory Council.

The district will also provide academic workshops and take-home learning resources for families, strengthen attendance support and increase community, mentor and business partnerships by 25 percent.

4) High-Quality Workforce

Our employees make Baldwin County schools strong. The district will continue investing in the recruitment, development and support of high-quality educators and staff members.

Through an expanded partnership with Georgia College & State University, education candidates will have opportunities to learn alongside Baldwin mentor teachers while preparing for future employment within the district.

The district will also launch a Teacher Collaborative Council, provide clearer instructional standards and learning progressions and ensure that teachers provide decision makers with regular feedback and as all staff receive meaningful professional coaching.

5) Operational Efficiency

Strong schools require systems that are efficient, responsive and responsible.

The strategic plan calls for more consistent district processes to improve our support for schools, improved central office responsiveness and a Bookkeeper Training Cohort designed to strengthen accounting practices and fiscal policy compliance.

Safety will remain a districtwide priority. Intensive, facility-specific security audits will be completed by July 2027, and campus safety teams will update their response plans annually.

This plan is designed to produce changes that students, families, employees and community members can recognize. When visiting a Baldwin County school, families should see welcoming and professional front offices, easy-to-find calendars, clearly communicated behavior expectations and public celebrations of student and staff attendance.

They should also see educators using shared instructional standards, students actively participating in meaningful discussions and student work that demonstrates practical writing, deep learning and real-world problem-solving. A strategic plan is more than a document. It is a commitment to action, accountability and continuous improvement.

Together, we are building schools where students are challenged and supported, educators have the resources they need, families have a meaningful voice and our entire community shares in Baldwin’s success.
