Friday, May 7, 2021, is designated as School Lunch Hero Day--a time when we can showcase the difference school nutrition professionals make for every child who comes through the cafeteria. Between preparing healthy meals for Baldwin County’s students, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, school nutrition professionals are true heroes.
The COVID-19 pandemic has without a doubt shown just how incredibly important school meals are for students and their families. The Baldwin County School Nutrition staff has prepared and served over one million meals since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March of 2020. Despite the hardships brought on by the pandemic, our school nutrition staff have been committed in their mission to provide healthy, nutritious meals to children and their families in the community. They truly are our heroes!
