Congratulations to our New Coordinator of School and Community Relations

Please join us as we welcome Mr. Eric Jones, School and Community Relations Coordinator. He is replacing Felicia Cummings who left the Baldwin County School District in August. Mr. Jones earned his undergraduate degree in 2008 at Georgia College where he served as editor for the literary magazine, The Peacock's Feet, and a writer and graphic designer for The Colonnade. While there, he had the pleasure of mentoring students at the Early College, instructing them on how to put together their own literary magazine called The Peacock's Feather. After college, he worked as head web editor for Bookreview.com in Madison, WI, and one of the nation's longest-running literary magazine's, Prairie Schooner, at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Mr. Jones grew up in Warner Robins, and his wife, Hali Sofala-Jones, grew up in Eatonton. They met as creative writers in the Georgia College English Program in 2007. She is a poet and a professor who now directs the Bridge Scholars Program at GC. After the birth of their daughter, Quinn Sofala-Jones, in 2014, he and his wife returned home to Milledgeville where he joined Georgia College's University Communications team as Special Projects Coordinator. There he worked on the website, stories, photography, and videography. He has deep roots in Baldwin County and profound love for foothills and family. On May 6, 2022, he earned his second degree, an MA in Literature, from Georgia College. He is excited to bring his love of stories to the Baldwin County Board of Education.
