Please give a warm welcome to the newest members of the Baldwin County School District team!

Mr. Matt Adams has accepted the position of Deputy Superintendent for the 2020-2021 School Year. Mr. Adams will be relocating to our community, along with his family in June. He is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Operations, Facilities and Business Services for the Franklin County School System. He has served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, CTAE Director, and district level administrator in various school systems and brings over 25 years of educational experience.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Religion from Emmanuel College and attended Mercer University and Columbus State University to earn his middle grades teaching certification. Adams later earned a Master of Education and Specialist in Education in the field of Educational Leadership from Columbus State University.

As an elementary school principal in Pike County and a middle and high school principal in Bibb and Lamar County Schools, Mr. Adams has successfully led P-12 public schools in continuous improvement initiatives resulting in gains in student achievement, progress, college and career readiness and graduation rates. His broad experiences include and are not limited to accomplished leadership in curriculum and instruction, school/district operations, safety, organizational effectiveness, facilities management, new construction, E-SPLOST, strategic planning, board policy, CTAE, athletics and assessment and accountability. He is very excited about joining the Baldwin County School District team and eager to begin serving the students, staff, and community.

Ms. Felicia Cummings will join the BCSD team as the School and Community Relations Coordinator. She is a Baldwin County resident who has been working in the fields of public education and public relations for over 15 years. Ms. Cummings is a graduate of Georgia College and State University with an earned Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature, Dramatic Arts, and a minor in Mass Communications. Ms. Cummings grew up in the public education school system of Wilkinson County, and her talent in writing, both creative and technical, was fostered by the support she received from her English and language arts teachers, as well as from the support from the community. Because of this support system, it was no surprise that she returned to her hometown to work as an educator alongside the teachers who helped shape her into the woman she is today. From 2006 to 2012, she taught British Literature, Drama, and Journalism at Wilkinson County High School. Her previous work experience also includes teaching at the Baldwin County location of GNETS, where she quickly completed the requirements to become a certified educator.

Cummings continued her career in journalism with the Union-Recorder newspaper as a general assignment and education reporter. She held that position for four years. In 2016, Ms. Cummings accepted a position as the Public Information Officer (PIO) for the Milledgeville Police Department and the City of Milledgeville. Her most recent position is with the Wilkinson County Extension Office.

Over her career in education and journalism, Cummings has been recognized and received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Georgia School Boards Association Beacon Award for public education. She was nominated by the Baldwin County Board of Education, December of 2015. She also received recognition for her public service to the community by securing a Jefferson Award in 2017, presented to her by WGXA Broadcast News. In July of 2016, Ms. Cummings was awarded a Buckle Up America Award by GTIPI for her public information coverage and promotion of seat belt safety. Ms. Cummings is a published author and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team!
