Dr. Noris Price Keynote Speaker at Nova Southeastern University; Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree

Congratulations to Dr. Noris Price, BCSD Superintendent, for being selected to serve as the keynote speaker at Nova Southeastern University’s commencement exercises on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Price also received the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree at the ceremony.

“As a proud alumna, I am honored to have shared this special moment with the Class of 2021,” said Price. “The experience and knowledge I received at this great university helped prepare me for an amazing career in education, and it was an honor to share some words of wisdom with this generation of graduates.”

In her keynote speech, she stressed the importance of education to the graduates and explained how education changed her life forever. Dr. Price came to this country from the Dominican Republic when she was 10 years old without speaking a word of English. She is the first in her family to graduate from high school and the first to graduate from college.

Dr. Price earned a Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Florida in 2006. She earned a Certificate in Educational Leadership from George Mason University in Virginia, a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Lehman College of the City University of New York, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Wilmington College in Ohio.

Dr. Price has more than 30 years of experience in public education. She has served as the Superintendent of Baldwin County Schools since July 1, 2014. Prior to her appointment as superintendent, she served as Deputy Superintendent of the Clarke County School District. She was an elementary school teacher in New York City and Fairfax, Virginia and an Assistant Principal and Principal in Fairfax County, Virginia. Dr. Price moved to Georgia in 1997. For 10 years, she served as principal for Woodland Elementary Charter School in Fulton County, Georgia.
