Congratulations to Ayesha Patel, a student at Georgia College Early College, who has been selected by State School Superintendent Richard Woods to join the prestigious Superintendent's Student Advisory Council (SAC) for the 2023 - 2024 term.
Superintendent Dr. Noris Price expressed her admiration, stating, "Ayesha Patel has consistently demonstrated her outstanding abilities as a student in our district. We are immensely proud of her selection to this esteemed council, and we look forward to her positive impact at the state level."
In a press release announcing the council, State Superintendent Woods said, “Georgia's public schools exist to serve students, and it is absolutely essential that we receive feedback directly from those directly affected by statewide policies. Every year, my Student Advisory Council is an incredibly valuable resource for me, and for my colleagues at the Georgia Department of Education, as we make decisions that will directly impact the classroom. The students selected for this year's Council are a prestigious group representing schools across the state, and I look forward to working with them to expand educational opportunities for all of Georgia's children."
Out of over 1,000 applicants vying for a spot on the council, Ayesha Patel was among the select few chosen. Selection was based on the strength of applicants' essays, which not only showcased their visions for public education but also highlighted their community service contributions.
These students hail from public schools throughout Georgia, representing every RESA district in the state. This achievement stands as a testament to the excellence and dedication of our students.
