This week, Superintendent Dr. Kristina Brooks and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Rodney Tyson, as part of their ongoing meetings with departments across the District, extended a special invitation to AFS (American Facility Services) custodian staff serving Baldwin County Schools for an open and uplifting conversation about the essential role they play in shaping student learning environments.
“Your work directly impacts how students feel when they walk through the doors each day,” said Dr. Brooks during the meeting. “When a building is well-kept and cared for, it sets the tone for learning. It shows our students they matter.”
The conversation covered a range of topics, from daily challenges and best practices to ideas for improving communication and creating stronger school-based support systems for custodial staff. Most importantly, it was an opportunity for our district leaders to listen, as they continue information-gathering efforts across the district.
The meeting concluded with a message of gratitude as well as a special gift and treats, followed by our renewed commitment to ensuring that custodial teams feel seen, heard, and supported.
A special thanks to AFS (American Facility Services) for their leadership in managing custodial operations across the district. Their efforts ensure that our schools remain clean, safe, and welcoming, allowing students and staff to stay focused on what matters most: teaching, learning, and growing together.
