Oak Hill Teacher Seticia "Coach T" Smith Pitches Opener at Baldwin Bravettes Softball Pink Out Game

Updated: Sep 23, 2023

This week's Pink Out Softball game between Baldwin and West Laurens featured an opening pitch and presentation for former 2022 Baldwin County School District Teacher of the Year, Oak Hill Middle teacher and coach Seticia "Coach T" Smith. It's clear that Coach T's impact on our community is immeasurable. Not only has she coached softball for three seasons, but she's also made her mark in cross country, track and field at the middle school level, and girls' basketball at the high school. Coach T's dedication to our athletes runs deep, and her influence goes far beyond the sports arena.

As we rallied together for the Pink Out game, dedicating this day to the unwavering spirit of those families, friends, staff, faculty, and students diagnosed with cancer, it was a reminder that she is not just a Baldwin County Bravette; she's a proud product of Appling County, shaped and molded by the values instilled in her roots. Her journey has included overcoming a heart attack and battling stage three B breast cancer in 2021, a fight that saw her endure rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and a double mastectomy in 2022. Today, she faces yet another challenge, lymphoma, a formidable opponent in the form of cancer that affects the lymph nodes, and will undergo chemotherapy again beginning in October. Coach T's resilience, her religious faith, and determination remain unshaken, and our Oak Hill family stands firmly behind her as she continues her fight.

In moments like these, it's evident that the power of community and support can move mountains. We are honored to have Coach T as a part of our Baldwin County family, and we are committed to standing by her side throughout this journey. Together, we show that no matter the adversity we face, we are #CoachTStrong.

Next Friday, September 29th, Baldwin High School Football will host its Pink Out game at Braves Stadium against the Howard Huskies. A special ceremony will be held prior to the game honoring all those within our community who have been diagnosed with any form of cancer. Now is the perfect time to get your pink on, come out and meet our honorees and watch an incredible game!
