It is hard to believe 20 years have passed since the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It is a moment in time that changed the lives of so many so quickly. Today, we ask all Americans across the nation to join us in honoring and remembering the 2,977 lives claimed by the attacks on September 11, 2001. As we remember the lives lost to this tragedy, we also ask that you also honor the lives of those who exhibited bravery during the attacks. In the blink of an eye, ordinary people reacted instantaneously to a threat and became extraordinary heroes. Americans from all backgrounds and all walks of life responded with courage and compassion. The events of 9/11 taught us all about the true meaning of strength, sacrifice, resilience, grace, and the tenacity of the human spirit - the American spirit! We shall never forget!
