Initially a special education coordinator and then middle school administrator, her journey progressed to roles at the Central Office, where she served as a Special Education Director and later as Executive Director overseeing Student and Business Services. Encouraged by colleagues, she entered Georgia's Superintendent Professional Development Program, which she described as instrumental in shaping her leadership approach.

"I had never dreamed of being a superintendent," Dr. Brooks remarked. "But once I was in that program, learning from distinguished leaders like Dr. Jody Barrow, I gained confidence. I realized I could positively impact education on a broader scale."
