Zaxby’s Donates $25,000 to Support Baldwin County Schools’ Breakfast Program

Baldwin County School District’s Nutrition Department has received a generous $25,000 donation from the Zaxby’s family, led by the Avants Management Group, to support the district’s elementary school breakfast program. The donation, made through the newly established Mustard Seed Trust, marks the first community gift from the fund—and a meaningful return to the roots of the Zaxby’s brand.

Milledgeville holds a special place in the hearts of the Avants Management Group, as it was the location of their very first Zaxby’s franchise nearly three decades ago. “Why not start where it all began?” said Gary Avants during the check presentation. “We recently decided to start a trust to give back in the communities where we operate, and Milledgeville is our baby.”

In addition to the financial donation, the Zaxby’s team is also providing a variety of incentive prizes to encourage student participation in school breakfast. These incentives will help promote nutrition awareness and ensure more students begin their day with a healthy meal.

The Milllegdeville Zaxbys will also give away merch, meal cards, and students can enter to win prizes through a special drawing. They say the program is a way for students to start their day encouraged and energized.

“We’re just tickled to death to be the first recipient of this incredible gift,” said Susan Nelson, Baldwin County School District's Director of Nutrition. “This contribution is going to make a real difference in the lives of our students.”

The Mustard Seed Trust plans to continue supporting food-insecure children in other communities where Zaxby’s operates, with Baldwin County proudly serving as the pilot for what the family hopes will be a long-term impact initiative.
