GOSA Officials touring Oak Hill MIddle School with Principal Ray

Two years ago, the Baldwin County School District was awarded a very special STEAM grant from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement which brought in $450,000 into the district. The STEAM Ahead grant focuses on developing interdisciplinary units that integrate science, technology, engineering, and math as well as the arts across all content areas at Oak Hill Middle School and Georgia College Early College.

The impact this program has had on our curriculum for these students has been nothing short of incredible and that’s why today we welcomed officials from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement(GOSA) to come see for themselves all of the hard work our teachers and students have been doing.

We have seen such success that we are now applying for a scale up innovation grant for another two years and an expansion of the STEAM program to make these resources available to every teacher at Oak Hill Middle School and Georgia College Early College. If selected, it will mean that the Baldwin County School District will be one of only a handful of districts in the entire state selected to receive as much as $750,000 dollars into our schools.
