ree

In a recent event hosted by the Milledgeville Chamber of Commerce, the spotlight was on academic excellence as Alexander Bakken emerged as one of three finalists for the prestigious STAR student title in Baldwin County. Alongside him, his dedicated teacher, Jessica Thompson, was recognized as STAR Teacher for her outstanding contribution to his academic journey. The local chapters of the Exchange Club, Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club also serve as sponsoring organizations.

The STAR program, designed to bridge the gap between educators and the business-civic community, aims to honor and celebrate academic excellence. This event serves as a platform for acknowledging the efforts of students and teachers alike, fostering a connection between education and the professional world. The local chapters of the Exchange Club, Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club also serve as sponsoring organizations.

High School STAR winners like Alexander Bakken receive special recognition from over 170 civic organizations and businesses that act as local sponsors for the program. This not only highlights the significance of academic achievement but also emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the educational and business sectors.

Congratulations to Alexander Bakken and Jessica Thompson for their well-deserved recognition in the Baldwin County STAR program. Their success not only reflects their personal dedication but also underscores the vital role that educators play in shaping the future leaders of our communities. We wish them the best of luck as they embark on the next phase of their academic journey in pursuit of the state STAR scholarships and awards.
