The Baldwin County School District is proud to announce that Deputy Superintendent Dr. Rodney Tyson has been officially sworn in as a member of the Baldwin County Health Department Advisory Council. The ceremony was conducted by Ava Trubey, Office Manager for the Baldwin County Health Department, marking an important step in strengthening partnerships between local health leaders and the school district.
The Advisory Council brings together leaders from across the community, including local physicians, environmental scientists, business owners, and city officials, to address pressing health and environmental issues that affect Baldwin County and Georgia as a whole.

Dr. Tyson emphasized the significance of this collaboration, “We'll meet quarterly at the Department of Health here in Milledgeville to discuss health matters that are going on within our community that may impact our school system. We also discuss environmental issues, restaurant ratings, hotel issues—those sorts of things that might impact our community.”
Focus on Student Health and Vaccinations
One of Dr. Tyson’s priorities as a council member will be helping promote access to flu vaccinations for Baldwin County students.
“One of the big focuses from my seat, as a panel member on this board, is working with the Department of Health to make sure our students get vaccinated,” Dr. Tyson said. The Baldwin County Health Department offers these vaccinations regardless of insurance status, ensuring that every student has access to preventative care.
Representing Baldwin County Schools
For Dr. Tyson, joining the Advisory Council is not only about health initiatives but also about building stronger ties with the community:
“I received a call from the Department of Health asking me if I would be willing to serve in the capacity to represent our school district. Being the new Deputy Superintendent, I was absolutely thrilled to accept.”
The Baldwin County School District congratulates Dr. Tyson on this honor and looks forward to the positive impact his service on the Baldwin County Health Department Advisory Council will bring to students, staff, and the greater Baldwin County, Georgia community.
