Baldwin County Schools is celebrating a new milestone: Olivia Hill, a substitute teacher, parent, and proud alumna of Baldwin High School, has been appointed to the Georgia Department of Education’s State Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council.
This council brings together parents from across Georgia to share their insights on curriculum, policy, and ways to better support students and families. Hill’s appointment marks the second time a Baldwin County parent has been on the council, following Dr. Kristina Dandy's appointment in 2023.
A Lifelong Commitment to Baldwin County Schools
Hill knows Baldwin County Schools inside and out—first as a student, now as a parent and community leader. She has served on the Local School Governance Teams for both Lakeview Primary and Lakeview Academy, and is a founding member of Lakeview Academy’s PTO. She also volunteers in theater, chorus, and school events, helping students beyond the classroom.
“Parents play a vital role in student success,” Hill explained. “I’ve seen how children thrive when families are engaged. My hope is to strengthen parent involvement not only in Baldwin County but across Georgia.”
Representing Baldwin Families at the State Level
Hill was nominated by Dr. Tracy Clark of Lakeview Primary, who also taught her in fourth grade. With deep community roots and years of hands-on involvement, Hill feels prepared to represent the perspectives of parents, teachers, and alumni.
Her two children, Gideon (10, gifted program) and Rider (7, Montessori program), are enrolled in Baldwin County Schools. This gives Hill unique insight into the diverse learning opportunities available across the district.
Baldwin County’s Ongoing Representation
Hill follows fellow Baldwin parent Kristina, who served on the council for the past two years. Together, their back-to-back appointments reflect Baldwin County’s strong leadership and advocacy at the state level.
“I feel honored to represent our district,” Hill said. “Every student deserves a voice—whether their parents are heavily involved or not. My goal is to make sure Baldwin County families, teachers, and students are heard.”
