Comprehensive Selection Process Yields Sole Finalist

The Baldwin County School District has named Dr. Kristina Brooks as the sole finalist for the position of Superintendent following an extensive selection process. She will replace the current superintendent, Dr. Noris Price, who will retire on June 30, 2025.
With a strong background in educational leadership, strategic planning, and student achievement, Dr. Brooks is positioned to bring innovative and results-driven leadership to the district. Her accomplishments and accolades have been made publicly available on the Baldwin County School District website here.
The Baldwin County Board worked with the Georgia School Boards Association to identify the desired characteristics of the new superintendent. Board members adopted qualifications for the position, established a flexible timeline, and approved a recruitment announcement. The search for a new superintendent began with a national application process, which closed on December 2, 2024, with 33 applicants. Candidates went through three rounds of interviews as part of a comprehensive selection process conducted by the Board of Education.
According to Board Director Wes Cummings, the selection process was thorough and intentional to ensure the best leadership for Baldwin County students.
“Selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions a school board makes. After reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and considering multiple qualified candidates, we are confident in presenting Dr. Brooks as the best choice for Baldwin County School District,” said Cummings.

Next Steps in the Superintendent Selection Process
Georgia law requires a 14-day public review period before the Board of Education can finalize the appointment of a new superintendent. During this period, the Board will:
Work closely with Dr. Brooks to build relationships and discuss contract details.
Provide public access to information about the finalist’s qualifications and experience.
Allow community members the opportunity to review and understand the selection process.
“We will be sharing a candidate packet with details about Dr. Brooks, which will be made available on the Baldwin County School District website and social media,” said Cummings. “We want the community to have full transparency throughout this process.”
The public information packet has been available, and the final Board vote on Dr. Brooks’ appointment will take place following the 14-day review period as required by law.
