Baldwin County School District is thrilled to announce the kick-off of its Ferst Readers literacy initiative at the Early Learning Center today, December 5, 2023. The event is scheduled for this evening at 5:30 pm and promises an engaging evening of family-friendly activities.
Parents who elect to sign up for the Ferst Readers Program will receive a bookstore-quality, age-specific book and resources mailed to them at home every month until their child's fifth birthday. This access to print helps create a language-rich environment in the home. However, no sign up is necessary to participate in this evening's event.
The Ferst Readers Kick-Off event at the Early Learning Center will feature FREE pizza, Amici's and families can anticipate a night filled with fun games and interactive activities, designed to promote the joy of reading and early literacy development.
In addition to the festivities, participants will have four chances to win exciting prizes, including $100 Walmart Gift Cards and children's tablets. The event aims to not only launch the Ferst Readers literacy program but also create a memorable and enjoyable experience for families in the Baldwin County School District community.
Ferst Readers, founded in 1999, has been at the forefront of addressing the challenges faced by children entering kindergarten without essential early literacy skills. The organization's vision is to create better learners, brighter futures, and stronger communities by ensuring every child under five has access to quality books in their homes.
