Baldwin High School to Adjust Homecoming Plans for 2023

Updated: Sep 7, 2023

Due to safety concerns related to the large crowd sizes at select sporting events and the increasing demands on local law enforcement to expand their reach beyond the stadium premises, Baldwin High School is joining a growing list of counties that are discontinuing tailgating and loitering activities within the parking lots of football games. Recent social media 'challenges' promoting crowd disturbances and dangerous 'pranks' have exacerbated these concerns, posing tangible risks to public safety. As a result, the Baldwin County School District will no longer permit loitering or large gatherings outside the stadium. The priority is to foster safe, enjoyable, and family-oriented experiences at our athletic events. The Baldwin High School Homecoming festivities inside Braves Stadium will continue in accordance with tradition.

All loitering, grilling or congregating in the parking lot and/or campus premises before, during or after the game will be prohibited to ensure an enjoyable and family-friendly sporting event for all students, athletes, coaching staff, and fans.

To make sure all fans have an enjoyable experience, Baldwin High School has implemented the following safety guidelines:

  • Students/patrons under the age of 14 will be required to have an adult present with them at all times during athletic events. Unaccompanied students under the age of 14 will not be allowed entry into the event without an adult.

  • A clear-bag policy will be in effect at ALL Baldwin County High School athletic events.Only clear plastic or vinyl bags not exceeding 12”’x 6” will be allowed. Also, small clutch bags not exceeding 5” x 7” are also permissible.

  • The use of entry-point metal detection will be in place at all home football games. Please be mindful that all items brought in are subject to search.

  • All Baldwin County School District facilities and properties are Alcohol Free, Tobacco Free (including E-Cigarettes or Vapes), and Drug Free Zones. Anyone found in violation of this will be ejected from the event, and barred from attending future events.

  • Fans are to remain seated in the stands and avoid entering the playing area. This helps ensure that the players and staff can complete their post-game duties smoothly and safely.

  • All fans inside the stadium are expected to remain in the seating area and should refrain from loitering near the concession/plaza area. Failure to comply with this request may result in the removal from the stadium and/or event grounds.

These measures are the best course of action to ensure an enjoyable and family-friendly sporting event for our students, athletes, coaching staff, and fans.
