BCSD MAY PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE WINNERS

The Pursuit of Excellence award is presented to employees who go above and beyond the call of duty.  Nominations can be made by BCSD employees, students, parents and community members.  The nomination form can be found on our website under the Human Resources Department tab. 


Congratulations to the following employees who are the May 2025 Pursuit of Excellence Award recipients for the Baldwin County School District.



Stacey Atkinson

3rd Grade Teacher at Midway Hills Academy


Stacey Atkinson is working in her seventh year with the Baldwin County School District as a 3rd Grade teacher at Midway Hills Academy school.


Mrs. Atkinson was nominated by her colleague, Charlotte Sills. Ms. Sills had the following to say, “Mrs. Atkinson came to Midway Hills Academy(MHA) in 2018. She has been in third grade her entire career at MHA, but not always in the same position! 

 

Mrs. Atkinson not only gives her teaching expertise to her students but also her time.  She builds relationships with the students and their parents. Her students are able to easily speak with her when they have a problem or need extra help.  

 

Mrs. Atkinson is a valuable member of the third grade team and is quick to assist any of the team teachers. She is always looking for new methods to help with her to help struggling students better understand all of the standards that she teaches and to advance, enrich the students who have mastered the standards. She even went back to school to get her specialist degree! She always shares with her team any new strategies that have worked well with her students. All of her team teachers come to her often asking for help and she is always ready to help, with respect and no judgment. Mrs. Atkinson is such an asset to Midway Hills Academy. Thank you, Mrs. Atkinson, for all you do for the students, teachers and staff at MHA!.”

Angela Brantley

Media Clerk at Oak Hill Middle School


Angela Brantley is working in her twenty-seventh year for the Baldwin County School District. Mrs. Brantley currently works as the Media Clerk at Oak Hill Middle School.  


Mrs. Brantley was nominated by her colleague, Hope Goodner.   Ms. Goodner  had the following to say, “I am nominating Mrs. Angela Brantley for the Pursuit of Excellence award because she exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding educator and colleague. Angela is a team player, a go-getter, and a natural leader who fosters positivity in every interaction. She consistently goes above and beyond her responsibilities, showing patience and kindness to everyone she encounters. Personally, she has been a nurturing and patient mentor, guiding me with unwavering support and encouragement. Her dedication and commitment inspire those around her, making her truly deserving of this recognition..


Mrs. Brantley, thank you for being a shining example of excellence!



Joslyn Ellis-Fournier

School Social Worker for the Baldwin County School District


Joslyn Ellis-Fournier is working in her first year for the Baldwin County School district.  She currently works as the School Social Worker for the Baldwin County School District.  


Mrs. Ellis-Fournier was nominated by her colleagues, Amy Taylor and Tyiesha Oliver.  Ms. Taylor had the following to say, “I am writing to enthusiastically recommend Joslyn Ellis-Fournier for the Pursuit of Excellence Award. While this is her first year working with the Baldwin County School District, she made a significant impact from the very first day. As a dedicated colleague, Joslyn consistently goes above and beyond to support our students and their families, demonstrating a profound commitment to our community.

 

Joslyn is always available to bring essential supplies such as bookbags, clothing, and educational materials to those in need. Her unwavering willingness to assist students and families with housing, food, and other critical resources exemplifies her dedication to their well-being. Joslyn's efforts do not go unnoticed; she has made a significant impact on the lives of many in our school.  I am pleased to nominate Joslyn due to her tireless efforts and commitment to our students.”


Ms. Oliver had the following to say, “Ms. Ellis-Fournier is our district social worker and even though she serves all schools in the Baldwin County School District, she makes herself available whenever we call for a student in need at Baldwin High School. She meets with students, parents, counselors, teachers and administrators to serve and support our students in their time of need. She provides resources and support for families within our community whenever she is called, whether it's day, night or during the weekend. Ms. Ellis-Fournier works tirelessly to ensure that our students have their needs met in order to be successful at school. Whether it's  soliciting monetary donations, clothing or counseling services, Ms. Ellis-Fournier is dedicated to serving our students. We appreciate Ms. Ellis-Fournier for her dedication to the students at Baldwin High School where she has truly made a difference.”

   Tonya Milner            

School Nutrition Department Bookkeeper for the Baldwin County School District


Ms. Milner is working in her twenty-ninth year for the Baldwin County School District.  She is currently working as the School Nutrition Bookkeeper for the Baldwin County School District.


Ms. Milner was nominated by her supervisor, Susan Nelson, School Nutrition Director.  Ms. Nelson had the following to say, “Tonia is a very loyal and dedicated employee.  She has worked her way up the ladder from nutrition assistant, cashier, manager and now bookkeeper. Tonia is also the bookkeeper for our Child and Adult Care Food Program, CACFP Supper Program. 


Tonia rarely misses work; she can multitask like no one else, and even in chaos keeps her cool! She works with our work-based learning students who are interested in the business world and provides hands-on accounting experiences. She recently completed a successful review with CACFP and the auditors were impressed with her organizational skills. She keeps all of our grant funds in balance, orders equipment and uniforms, as well as much more! We are so fortunate to have Tonia in our office and look forward to completing another successful year with her in school nutrition."
