BCSD Named Finalist in GSBA Governance Team of the Year Recognition Program

Writer: EricJonesEricJones

The Baldwin County School District is pleased to announce that it has been selected as one of the eight esteemed finalists in this year's Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) Governance Team of the Year (GTOY) Award. This prestigious honor acknowledges the district's exceptional performance and dedication to effective governance.

As a result, the district's governance team (Board of Education) is now eligible to participate in the rigorous application and interview process. The application will require governance team members to answer a series of questions, supported by relevant documentation that highlights their exemplary leadership practices. In addition, interviews will be conducted with the entire governance team, overseen by an external facilitator, scheduled to take place during the Fall of 2023. The outcome of this comprehensive assessment, combined with the strength demonstrated in the initial questionnaire, will determine the recipients of the highly coveted 2023 GSBA Governance Team of the Year award.

A distinguishing aspect of the new GTOY process is its unwavering focus on the functioning of a governance team in a leadership capacity, rather than solely evaluating the actions of staff members. This approach ensures that the size or resources of a district hold no influence over the ability of a governance team to adhere to best practices and foster student achievement.

Congratulations to the Baldwin County Board of Education for being named a finalist 2023 GSBA Governance Team of the Year (GTOY) and commends them for their unwavering dedication and hard work in representing the best interests of students and the community.
