Dr. Gloria Wicker Elected 2023 Board Chair

The Baldwin County Board of Education is pleased to announce that Dr. Gloria Wicker has been elected as the 2023 Board Chair. The vote was unanimous. Dr. Wicker has served as a member of the board for over 10 years and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position.


"We are thrilled to have Dr. Gloria Wicker as the chair of the Baldwin County Board of Education," said Superintendent Dr. Noris Price." Her dedication to the education and well-being of our students is unmatched, and we are confident that she will lead the board with integrity and a student-centered focus."


Dr. Wicker has a long illustrious history of civic servitude and education dating back as early as 1970. She began her teaching career at Harris County and Muscogee County School systems after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Clark Atlanta University and earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Columbus College. She later earned her Doctorate in Education Administration from Nova Southeastern University. Her strength and knowledge of education are unparalleled and her performance as Chair will be a great asset to our District. Dr. Wicker is married to Retired Presiding Elder Alan Hale Wicker and together they have four adult children and six grandchildren. She and her husband love to travel and attend jazz performances.


As chair, Dr. Wicker will lead the board in setting policy and making decisions that impact the education of over students in Baldwin County. The Baldwin County Board of Education meets regularly to discuss and make decisions on important issues affecting the school district. Meetings are open to the public and held at the Central Office on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM.
