In Baldwin County, Friday nights under the lights are more than just football games. They’re community traditions. The cheers, the rivalries, the marching band, these moments bring our families and fans together year after year. To make sure those memories stay positive, Baldwin County Schools has launched a new video series called “School Safety Sessions.”

This month’s feature, “Game Day Safety,” spotlights Athletic Director Dexter Ricks, who joins our communications team to share important reminders about safety at athletic events. From Georgia High School Association guidelines to local security measures, Ricks explains how Baldwin County is keeping every game both fun and safe.
“Safety is our biggest concern,” says Coach Ricks. “Sportsmanship goes a long way. If we can control the emotions of the crowd, it becomes an added layer of protection for everyone.”
What Fans Should Know Before Kickoff
Before you head into the stands, remember these quick tips from the School Safety Sessions:
Arrive early: All fans go through entry-point screening.
Bag policy: Clear bags only. Small clutches are allowed; all other bags must be transparent and within size limits.
No unaccompanied minors: Anyone under 15 must be with an adult.
Leave these items at home: alcohol, tobacco, vapes, and weapons of any kind.
Watch the weather: Baldwin staff monitor conditions and use weather technology to ensure safety. Follow PA announcements and staff instructions during severe weather.
When our community works together, Braves Field becomes more than a stadium, it becomes a safe space for family, fun, and competition.
“Our goal is for every student, parent, and fan to feel confident that safety is our top priority,” said Superintendent Dr. Kristina Brooks. “That sense of security allows everyone to relax and truly enjoy the game.”
