Glow, Run, and Give: Lakeview Primary’s Boosterthon Brings the Fun(draising)

ree

When it comes to school spirit, Lakeview Primary knows how to light things up. Literally.

Last week, students, teachers, and families joined together for the school’s first-ever Boosterthon Glow Run, a high-energy fundraiser that blended fitness, character lessons, and a whole lot of laughter. By the end of the week, Lakeview had raised over $8,000! All for classroom resources, math manipulatives, new books, and PBIS incentives.

“The students absolutely loved it!” said Lakeview Instructional Coach DeeAnna May, “They watched daily videos about courage, curiosity, teamwork, resilience, and humility. Every child who registered earned a prize, and the excitement just kept building all week.”

What Is a Boosterthon?

The Boosterthon is a nationwide school fundraising program that helps schools raise money through pledges and donations.

Each day, students participated in short, engaging lessons and activities that encouraged teamwork and perseverance while collecting donations online with help from their families.

And the best part? The Boosterthon team from Atlanta handled all the logistics from set-up and clean-up to keeping the energy high during the big event, so teachers and staff could simply focus on having fun with the kids.

A Light Lift with Big Rewards

For Lakeview staff, the Boosterthon was refreshingly simple to manage. “This has been the easiest fundraiser I’ve ever helped with,” said May. “Boosterthon took care of everything. All we had to do was hype it up and enjoy it with the students!”

The school invested just $2,000 to host the event and cleared more than $6,000 in funds for classroom initiatives. That’s a solid return on fun.

Fun Run Highlights

On Glow Run Day, students filled the gym with cheers, music, and neon lights as they ran laps, danced, and even got to “pie” their administrators in the face! A sweet (and slightly messy) reward for reaching their goals.

There’s no doubt Lakeview will be making the Boosterthon an annual tradition.

“We’ll absolutely do this again,” said May. “I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Final Word

From teamwork to tenacity, Lakeview’s students raised not only money, but school spirit as well! When learning, laughter, and leadership come together, everyone wins.
