Oak Hill Middle and Baldwin Band of the Braves Alumnus Makes UGA Redcoat Alumni Band

We're thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Shatavius Hamm, an exceptionally talented Tuba player and distinguished alumnus of the Baldwin Band of the Braves. Hamm's remarkable musical journey has reached a new pinnacle as he secures a coveted spot in the prestigious UGA Redcoat Alumni Band. The timing couldn't be more perfect as the Redcoat Alumni Band embarked on their momentous 50th Anniversary festivities during the weekend of August 19th.

Hamm's awe-inspiring musical odyssey traces back to his early days at Oak Hill Middle School and later at Baldwin High School. Through unwavering dedication and relentless practice, Hamm honed his craft, ultimately securing his place among the nation's finest musicians. Both Oak Hill Band Director Trent Henderson and the Baldwin Band of the Braves can proudly bask in the glow of Hamm's success, as their guidance and nurturing played a pivotal role in shaping his artistic prowess.

A heartening chapter of Hamm's journey unfolded as Oak Hill Band Director Trent Henderson made a special visit to the Athens campus. This heartwarming reunion not only exemplifies the profound impact educators have on their students' lives but also highlights the interconnectedness of the musical community. As Hamm takes his place in the UGA Redcoat Alumni Band's 50th Anniversary celebrations, his story stands as a testament to the power of perseverance, mentorship, and the unifying force of music.
