Two talented students, Lyla Ross and Olivia Shinholster, from Oak Hill Middle School recently had the honor of representing the Baldwin County School District and the Oak Hill Choral Program at the prestigious 2024 GMEA Sixth Grade Statewide Honor Choir in Tifton, GA on February 9th and 10th. This event brought together over 400 sixth-grade choral students from all corners of the state, creating a harmonious gathering of young voices. The highlight of the two-day event was a spectacular concert featuring five breathtaking pieces, the result of collaborative efforts from these budding vocalists.

Under the guidance of the esteemed choral conductor, Dr. Emily Burch, our Oak Hill representatives showcased not only their musical talents but also their exemplary work ethic and behavior. The selection of these students was based on their outstanding choral abilities, making them stand out among their peers. Throughout the event, they immersed themselves in the rehearsal process, contributing to the overall success of the concert.

These students served as commendable ambassadors, representing not only the Oak Hill Choral Program, and the school district but also their families, teachers, and themselves.

Their commitment to excellence and the qualities that earned them this prestigious opportunity were evident in their performance, bringing pride and congratulations to Oak Hill Middle School. Well done to these young talents for making a lasting impression at the 2024 GMEA Sixth Grade Statewide Honor Choir!
