Teacher of the Year Finalist: Tomeishia Stanton, Midway Hills Primary



Tomeishia Stanton is a second-grade teacher at Midway Hills Primary School. She grew up in a small neighborhood called Sanders Quarter in Sparta, Georgia, and graduated from Hancock Central High School in Hancock County. She has been an educator for 11 years. She earned a Bachelor of Education and Special Education from Fort Valley State University and a Master of Elementary Education from Thomas University.


Ms. Stanton takes pride in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and adapting instruction to meet diverse student needs. She prioritizes active engagement and collaboration among her students and cultivates a love for learning.


Ms. Stanton emphasizes real-world applications while integrating technology to effectively enhance educational experiences. Her ultimate goal is to develop well-rounded learners that are prepared for future challenges so they may become successful adults. She takes pride in being a supportive co-worker and aims to create a warm and welcoming space to support her colleagues.
