A Message from the Superintendent

As we approach my first 90-day milestone, I am so grateful to the Baldwin community for your immediate partnership. Your openness and enthusiasm have created the perfect space for us to succeed. We are not just planning anymore, but have begun to implement wide-ranging strategies to support our children and community. As we keep building that trust, we open the door to the most important work, making our impact as great as it can be.

When we say “Believe in Baldwin,” it’s more than a slogan. The short film below captures just a glimpse of what that promise looks like in action: our students, teachers, families, and community partners working together to create opportunity, equality, and pride for every child.

As Superintendent, I get to see this belief lived out every single day. I see it in our classrooms, where teachers are laser-focused on literacy, ensuring every student can read on or above grade level. I see it in our high school pathways, where students are exploring real-world careers in healthcare, business,  agriculture, construction, education and so many other highly skilled areas. And I see it in our community, where local partners step up again and again to open doors for our kids.

What Belief Looks Like

Belief looks like teachers staying late to help a beginning reader make sense of the words in a book so that the text stops becoming a challenge and starts being a story to read that brings meaning and joy. It looks like our Project SEARCH graduates walking into their first jobs with confidence. It looks like a bus driver greeting each child by name, a nutrition worker plating meals with pride, a principal greeting families with a smile every morning.

It looks like Baldwin County.

Together, We Build the Baldwin Our Children Deserve

I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished already, achieving over a 95% average attendance ratings for our students since school started. We have elementary students who have already successfully read more than a million words! We have student musicians who have been recognized at the highest honor level. Now we must expect markers of excellence for a broader audience of all students so that each child is reading at grade level and every graduate is prepared with a real plan for enrollment, enlistment, or employment.

This video is a celebration of you! The people who prove, every single day, that Baldwin County is more than a school district. We are a community committed to growing strong readers, strong thinkers, and strong leaders.

That’s why I believe in Baldwin. And that’s why, together, we’ll keep building the Baldwin our children deserve.
