This year, 21 years after the tragic "9/11" attacks, Patriot Day will fall on Sunday, September 11, 2022. So, the Baldwin County School District will hold its remembrance and recognition of those who lost their lives during this tragic event on Friday, September 9th. For students within the Baldwin County School District, it can be difficult to fathom the fear and sadness of that fateful morning when nearly 3,000 people were killed, with another 9,000 injured in the largest attack on American soil.

In recognition of those heroes, first-responders, families, and the fallen, a moment of silence will be held at 8:46 am, commemorating the time that the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. All of our flags will be flown at half mast, and all employees and students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue in observance of Patriot Day. Teachers will also teach their students about the day's significance and effects on our national and cultural identity. We will never forget.
