Thursday, Sept. 3, Chief State School Officers received a letter from Secretary Betsy Devos stating that the U.S. Department of Education does not plan to grant federal testing waivers for the 2020-2021 school year. This message is in response to a joint request by Georgia's School Superintendent Richard Woods and Governor Brian Kemp in June requesting a standardized testing waiver for 2020-2021 due to the impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on families. In response to the U.S. Department of Education's decision, Woods has released a statement. Click the following link to read his response: GaDOE Statement.
