- BCSD Board Recognized as an Exemplary Board
The Baldwin County School District (BCSD) is proud to announce the achievement and status of the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) 2016 Exemplary School Board recognition. The recognition program was designed to showcase best practices in school governance and leadership. The Baldwin County School Board met and/or exceeded the criteria set forth by GSBA to earn this honor of a 2016 Exemplary Board. The GSBA Governance Team Recognition Program was developed by Georgia superintendents and board members based on the state board of education’s standards for effective governance to recognize exemplary leadership. In 1998, the Georgia School Boards Association was one of the first school board associations in the nation to develop a program of standards for local boards of education. The GSBA Board recognition program is a three-year, three tiered program. For more information on the program you may visit the GSBA website for awards and recognition or click here to view the criteria for all tiers of the program. Congratulations to the Baldwin County School Board for receiving this honor. Board Members are: Dr. Gloria Wicker (District 1), Harold B. Simmons (District 2), Lyn Chandler (District 3), John Jackson (District 4) and Wes Cummings (District 5).
- BCSD Achieves Considerable Gains on CCRPI
The Baldwin County School District is proud to announce an increase of 6.1% on the 2016 CCRPI report. All schools in the district recorded gains on the CCRPI report, most notably Blandy Hills Elementary earning a 13.8% increase over the previous year. “The increases we have seen this year with the CCRPI report and our nearly 20% increase in the graduation rate have come from the incredible work of our teachers, students, administrators and parents,” said Superintendent Dr. Noris Price. “We have been implementing innovative programs and changing the organizational culture of our schools. We are building a world-class educational system here in Baldwin County based on the fundamental principle that every child is capable of learning and we're seeing that begin to pay off.” The Baldwin County School District experienced gains across all three levels while at the same time performance statewide saw decreases. Baldwin High School, while also recording a 5% increase from the previous year, was also able to outperform the state average for high schools by 4.2%. The CCRPI is Georgia’s statewide accountability system, implemented in 2012 to replace No Child Left Behind’s Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) measurement, after the U.S. Department of Education granted Georgia’s waiver from NCLB. It measures schools and school districts on a 100-point scale based on multiple indicators of performance, helping parents and the public better understand how schools are performing in a more comprehensive manner than the pass/fail system previously in place under AYP.

- BHS wins 300th all-time game
The Baldwin Braves secured their 300th all-time victory against Hancock County last Friday. The Braves pulled out an exciting, last-minute effort scoring the final two TD's late in the 4th. Ty'Christian Henry had an incredible performance with 203 yards, 2TD's and 1INT as he helped take pressure off the Brave's passing offense against a stingy Hancock defense. The Braves look to continue their win streak as they host the powerhouse of Washington County on September 12th.
