GCEC Students Shine at National History Competition!

Students from the Georgia College Early College (GCEC) recently showcased their remarkable talent and dedication at the National History Competition, achieving significant recognition. The journey to this prestigious event starts at the school level, where students' projects, whether from public, private, parochial, charter, or homeschools, are first developed. Outstanding projects advance through regional or affiliate contests, with the potential to reach the national stage. Congratulations to Ashley Mullis, Maxime Tchamna, Mya Mason, Symere Taylor, and Yasmin Farley on their exceptional performances at the National History Competition!

At each contest level, students must present their work to judges who provide feedback and select projects to advance further. This process allows participants to refine their work based on judges’ feedback and their own insights, adhering to the Contest Rule Book. The ultimate goal for many is reaching the NHD National Contest, where approximately 3,000 students from across the United States and overseas compete each June at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Among the shining stars, Ashley Mullis and Maxime Tchamna took 1st place in the middle school group exhibit category, impressing with their engaging and informative presentation on a significant historical event. Close behind, Mya Mason and Symere Taylor clinched 3rd place.

In the high school category, Yasmin Farley stood out with her outstanding exhibit, capturing 1st place with her passion and skill in conveying complex historical narratives. The achievements of these GCEC students underscore their hard work, creativity, and the quality of education and mentorship they receive, showcasing their ability to achieve national recognition.

This success not only highlights the students' dedication and passion for history but also serves as an inspiration for their peers.
